An item reported that the Dutch steamship Nieuwkerk of the Ver. Ned. Scheepvaart Maatschappij of The Hague left the same day Hamburg for Flushing.(1) Here she was the shipyard Kon.Mij. De Schelde to be converted into a motor ship and to be fitted out with a so-called Mayer shaped bow. The conversion was intended to be completed in the first half of November and she was then to be renamed Boschfontein. Op 29 November was her maiden voyage planned on the line Amsterdam-Afrika for the Holland-Afrika-Lijn.
