Scottish towns proposed digging anal to replace Scapa Flow as shelter according to the Duth newspaper Noordbrabantsch dagblad het huisgezin dated 3 April 1940

An item dated London 2 April reported that at Edinburg during the meeting of the royal Scottish towns a proposal was approved for digging a canal in mid Scotland from the west towards the east. This canal would supply a better protection to the Royal British Navy as Scapa Flow provided. The proposal was to be sent to the minister of navy Winston Churchill and the premier.
