Training ship Chao Phya of Siam/Thailand (1918) 1923-August 1971


She was launched in November 1918 (Jane’s Fighting Ships) or 24 March 1919 (http://www.navypedia.org/ships/thailand/th_es_chow_phraya.htm and Colledge. Ships of the Royal Navy) at the shipyard of Eltringhams, S. Shields for the British Royal Navy as the minesweeper Havant of the Hunt-class and four/five years later acquired by Thailand following a conversion at the shipyard of Messrs. Thornycroft. Apparently she became in 1922 property of Thornycroft which firm sold her to Thailand (Colledge in August 1922). With a displacement of 680 (standard)-710 (1944-1945)-840 (full load) tons were her dimensions 220 x 28½ x 7½ feet. The vertical triple expansion engine and oil burned boilers supplied 2.200 hp allowing via the twin screw a speed of 16 knots. With a oil bunker capacity of 160 tons. Her crew numbered 65 men. Stricken in August 1971. Her original armament consisted of 1x1-10.2cm gun, 1x1-7,6cm during the war added by 1x1-40/39 pompom.
