Large number of British and French warships circling around Smyrna and Vurla according to the Dutch newspaper Arnhemsche Courant dated 9 March 1830

A news item dated Frankfurt 5 March reported that the British frigate HMS Blonde which stayed for a long period in the Black Sea area returned on the 18th at Constantinople returning from a survey mission in the Sea of Marmora and the Dardanelles where all the anchor sites, bays and the depth of the waters were mapped.
