Staunch-design. Nicknamed flat iron. Laid down at the navy yard at Amsterdam and launched a year later. With a displacement of 214 ton were her dimensions 25,88 x 7,62 x 2,30 metres. Her engines supplied 130 ihp while driving 2 screws allowing a speed of 8 miles. Her armament consisted of 1-23cm and since 1888 1-21cm, 2-3,7cm guns and 1-3,7cm revolver gun. Her crew numbered 22-34 men. Commissioned as mobile guard ship at Rotterdam on 11 September 1888. In the same harbour was she since 16 January 1897 training ship fpr engineers and stokers of the Royal Netherlands Navy Reserve. In 1909 fitted out with new boilers and rebuilt to become training ship at Hellevoetsluis where boys were trained to become sailors. Disarmed a year later and since 13 May 1911 used for training of midshipmen at Nieuwediep and for pilots in military service. In 1914 converted into a minelayer. Finally stricken on 21 December 1936 and added to the training of stokers at Willemsoord.
