Italian torpedo cruiser Tripoli launched according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1886-187 no. 9

An item reported the launching in September at Castellamare of the Tripoli the first of four torpedo cruisers for the Italian navy/ With a displacement of 740 tons were her dimensions 230 x 26 x 9,5 and a depth of hold of 16¾ feet. She was completely steel-built with a 15,5 thick armour and steel made bulkheads. The three screws were driven by independent engines each with 2 altered locomotive boilers, totally supplying 3.600 ihp allowing a speed of 18 miles. There were 5 torpedo launchers on board, 2 bow, 1 stern and 1 at each side, the latter 3 revolting. Further more consisted the armament of 8-5,7cm quick firing guns, 4-3,7cm quick firing guns and 3-3,7cm revolver guns.
