Dutch government surveying Djambi and Tambesi rivers according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1901-1902 no. 8

An item reported that in the last months of 1900 the Dutch sternwheeler Tiamang was ordered to steam up the Djambi-river for geographical survey activities. In May a year later was decided to survey the Tambesi-river the main tributary of the Djambi river. For this purpose was the stern wheeler Sin Hong Bie chartered. She was smaller as the Tamiang with a smaller draught although completely unprotected and with her own native crew. During the voyage was men involved in enemy activities.
