German navy receiving new guns according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1897-1898 no. 4
An item referred to the magazine Naval Program reporting that according to an order dated 27 October 1896 were all new guns to be used for the new ships with a maximum calibre of 24cm to be quick firing L/40 guns. The Kaiser Friedrich III and her sister ship Ersatz Friedrich der Grosse, Ersatz Leipzig, cruisers ‘K’, ‘L’, ‘M’ and ‘N’ and Freya now being built were the first to be fitted out with these new guns and probably later as much a possible all the other ships.
