The new Italian battleship design according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1900-1901 no. 10

An item referred to the magazine le Yacht reporting that the new kind of Italian 12.000 ton ship with a horsepower of 19.000 ihp allowing a speed of 21 miles would have a complete armour.(1) The building was to start in 1901. Her armament would included 2-30,5cm guns (1x fore, 1x aft), 12-20cm guns, 12-7,5cm guns, 12-4,7cm guns and at at least 2 surfaced torpedo tubes.

1. Presumably the Regina Elena-class battleships consisting of four sister ships Regina Elena, Vittorio Emanuele, Roma and Napoli with a displacement of 12.550/12.658 (standard)-13.914 (full load) tons with an armament of 2x1-12” guns, 6x2-8” guns, 16/24-3” guns and 2-17” submerged torpedo tubes. The Regina Elena was the first one to be built, her keel was laid down on 27 March 1901 at the La Spezia navy shipyard.
