Whitehead fish torpedoes also manufactured by national torpedo ateliers according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1892-1893 no. 11
An item referred to the magazine Engineering reporting that the production of Whitehead fish torpedoes or the comparable Schwartzkopff in several countries was nationalized. France founded an atelier at Toulon and Spain started on small scale at Carthagena. The firm Bliss at Brooklyn accepted the order from the American government for 100-18” torpedoes (with a cargo of 120 lbs. Gun cotton) of which some already were delivered. The Whitehead plant at Fiume still produced torpedoes for several countries like 18” torpedoes (with a speed of 32 miles) for the Italian government, 18” torpedoes (with a cargo of 220lbs) for Chile and further more for England, France and Austria (the latter two with a cargo of 198 lbs sand a speed of 20,5 miles).
