For years was in the Netherlands a magazine published dealing with maritime affairs. It contained notes dealing with the Royal Dutch Navy and the Dutch merchant shipping/trade, but also supplied information dealing with foreign navies, especially of France and Great Britain. Occasionally we can find information dealing with the navies of other countries Russia, United States or even Mexico. From Kronstadt departed in November 1857 a squadron commanded by captain 1st class Kournetzoff towards the East Indies and the southern parts of Asia. It’s consisted of 6 steamships, namely three corvettes of 180 hp, 10 guns and 162 men each, called Bojarine, commanded by Grevintz, the Nocik by Stall, the Woëwoda by Brumor and three clipper ships of120 hp, 6 guns and 129 men each, called Djiguilt by Maydal, the Plastoune by Matskwith and the Strelok by Phedorovitch. Totally the squadron numbered 843 men, 48 guns and 800 hp. Flagship was the Woëwoda.
