Italian submarine Tricheco 1928-1942

Her building at the CRDA shipyard, Montfalcone was ordered in 1928, laid down on 10 November 1928, launched on 11 September 1930, commissioned on 23 June 1931 and torpedoed and sunk by the British submarine Upholder on 18 March 1942 off Brindisi with just 3 survivors. In 2005 was her wrecked find back, lying on a depth of around 80 metres, Of the Squalo-class with as sister ships the Delfino, Narvalo and Squalo. This class differed slightly from the Bandiera-class. With a displacement of 920 (surfaced)-1.125 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 69,80 x 7,21 x 5,19 metres or 212.9 x 22 x 15.10 feet. Fitted out with 2-shaft Fiat diesels supplying 3.000 bhp and 2 CRDA 1.300 hp electric motors allowing a speed of 15 (surfaced)-8 (submerged) knots. Her crew numbered 41-53 men. The armament consisted of 4-53,3cm bow torpedo tubes, 4-53,3cm stern torpedo tubes, 1-10,2cm gun, and 2x1-1,32cm machine guns.
