Naval operations of the Dutch East Company at Banda according to the Generale Missive dated 5 April 1743

The Delfland was destined via Tegal for a cargo of rice towards Banda. The Huis te Rijnsburg went directly. The third ship asked for by Banda was unnecessary according to Batavia regarded the crops expectations. Lacking enough ships the patrolling off the Zuidooster- and Zuidwester eilanden wasn’t sufficient enough. It was hoped that after the recapture of Rembang ships were sent again. The pantjalangs Carnatica and Casuaris captured a Papuan kora kora; 4 of the 8 crew members were chained at Banda and forced to labour at the common works. On board were found 130 nut megs. There were two vessels bought for 350 and 400 rijksdaalders while Batavia couldn’t deliver anyone. Permission was asked to hire vessels van private persons if necessary, despite the fact they absolute refused this despite payment. The sloop Ongeziene Verandering loaded with rice was allowed to stay and serve at Banda.
