The Greek and Turkish navies in the Levant according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 26 June 1821

Corfu, 28 May. A report of the efforts of the Greek fleet was received at Corfu. A part of the fleet which cruising off the entrance to the Dardanelles captured before they passed this fairway a Turkish frigate with 800 barrels gunpowder on board, a brig and corvette coming out of the Dardanelles and a frigate which escorted 40 merchant ships loaded with grain and ammunition underway from Alexandria towards Constantinople. The cargoes of the merchant ships were also seized by the Greeks. According to the rumours captured Greek privateers all ready 12 Turkish warships including frigates, corvettes and brigs.
