Dutch seamen drowned in effort to save Austrian brig ship Pegno d'Amicitia according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 1 November 1824

Monday 25 October were Dutch 9 sailors of Hellevoetsluis drowned when they tried with an ice barge to aid the Austrian brig ship Pegno d'Amicitia which was in seriously danger and later even smashed at the Ooster due to a heavy North West storm and a high sea. Of the 9 men eight were married and let their widows with in total 26 children behind.
