London, 8 August. Lloyds received tidings from Gibraltar dated 17 July according to which 3 small Spanish vessels which departed 15 July were burned by the French blockade squadron because of their departure. A frigate and brig of war are cruising behind the mountain and were probably the French ships which left earlier Gibraltar. One tiding reported that the frigate Tribune yesterday afternoon [17 July] departed towards Cadiz with the mail brought by the packet Osberne and an other ship.

Someone who recently arrived coming from Barcelona told that a ship which came from Cadiz that 17 July all carpenters and other craftsmen of la Caracca were working at the gun launches numbering 60 although it was believed that no more than 40 were serviceable. Also was told that the British warship Lavinia which wanted to enter Cadiz 17 July was prevented to do so by the French rear admiral Hamelin. The British captain received a written testimony from the French rear admiral that he was ordered by his government to prevent this entering.
