The Turkish navy according to the Dutch newspaper Leeuwarder courant dated 2 October 1911

An item reported that the combat value of the Turkish navy was not much excluded perhaps the two armoured cruisers bought from Germany which latter country considered to be aged. The navy totally consisted of 52 ships with a total tonnage of 56.784 tons, 318 guns and 5.000 sailors. Most usable were the 15 destroyers and 6 submarines. There were 19 ships being built included 2 cruisers and 4 armoured cruisers. National service in the navy included 5 active years, 3 years reserve and 4 years redifs.
