Dutch tug Ursus 1918/1919-1923 (1948)


Of the Nieuwe Bergingsmaatschappij G. Dirkzwager Mzn. of Maassluis, Netherlands. Ex-W. Immers built in 1918 by Gebr. Kooiman at Zwijndrecht with yard number 47. IVR no. 27.00856. Dimensions 25,00 x 5,50 x 2,62 and a gross tonnage of 98 tons.and renamed in 1918 or 1919 Ursus. Since 1923 owned by the L. Smit&Co.’s  Internationale Sleepdienst Maatschappij and renamed Hoek van Holland. Became in August 1939 the BV 21 in Dutch naval service, seized by German in 940 and on 2 May 1951 in German service as the BS 5 (Bergungsschiffverband). Found back in desolate condition at Amsterdam in 1945. Broken up in 1948 by Frank van Rijsdijk. In 1921 was she involved in the salvage of the Dutch minelayer Hr.Ms. Hydra as shown on this photo.
