Dutch corvette Zr.Ms. Medusa towed upstream the Schelde according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 21 June 1831

An item dated Vlissingen, Netherlands the 18th reported that on the 16th the steamboat Rotterdam towed the Dutch bomb corvette Zr.Ms. Medusa (1)captain Courier dit Dubikaet upstream the Schelde.(2)

1. On stocks at the navy yard at Rotterdam, Netherlands 1825 door P. Glavimans Jz,, launched 1827, stricken 1835, dimensions 36,23 (loadline) 10,06 (inner hull) x 4,25 (fore)-4,81 (aft) x 5,25 (depth below main deck) metres and an armament consisting or 2-29”mortars, 20-12pd carronades and 2-6pd guns or without the mortars 20-30pd carronades and 206pd guns.
2. On 25 August 1830 started a revolt in what afterwards become the independent kingdom of Belgium but at that moment since 1815 still part of the kingdom of the Netherlands. On 4 October 1830 declared the Belgians their independence, on 21 July 1831 was their first king installed. Not earlier as in 1839 accepted the Netherlands the consequences (Treaty of London).
