Finnish minelayer FNS Pohjanmaa 1977-

Her building at the Wartsila Helsinki Shipyard, Helsinki, Finland was ordered in 1977, laid down on 1 May 1978, launched on 28 August, commissioned and baptized by Aili Haapkylä on 8 June 1979, training ship for the Naval Academy until 1992, and rebuilt in 1996-1998. Homeport Upinniemi. With a displacement of 1.450 tonnes and as dimensions 78,6 x 11,2 x 3,3 metres or 258’ x 37’ x 11’. Her crew numbers 70 (as Minelayer)-120 (as training ship). With a horsepower of 4.280 kW a speed of 18-19 knots. Her armament consisted after 1998 of 1-5,7cm gun, 1-4cm gun, 2-Sako 2,3cm twin barrel guns, 2-12,7,mm machine guns, 2 rails for depth charges and 4 rails for 150 sea mines. The intention was to decommission her end 2013 and finally to be sold or broken up. In August that year seemed Estonia interested to buy her, but his was finally cancelled. The latest news is that she will serve until 2015.
