British nuclear submarine HMS Dreadnought (S101) 1959-1980


Laid down at the shipyard of Vickers-Armstrong, Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom on 12 June 1959, launched on 21 October 1960, commissioned on 17 April 1963, decommissioned in 1980 and laid up at Rosyth Dockyard. The United Kingdom received from the USA a complete of propulsion machinery similar to the one placed in the American submarine USS Skipjack. Hull and combat systems were British designed and made. Displacement 3.000 (standard) tons -3.500tons.3.556 tonnes (surfaced)-4.000 tons/4.064 tonnes (submerged) and as dimensions 81,0 x 9,5 x 7,9 metres or 265.7 x 3q.2 x 25.9 feet. The armament consisted of 6-53,3cm/21” torpedo tubes in the bow. Her crew numbered 88-113 men. Speed 20 (surfaced)-28 (submerged) knots.
