French nuclear ballistic missile submarine La Redoubtable (S 611) 1964-


Sister ships le Foudroyant, le Terrible, l’Indomptable and le Tonnant of the Redoutable-class. Laid down at the Cherbourg Naval Dockyard, France on 30 March 1964, launched on 29 March 1967, trial in July 1969, operational on 1 December 1971 and decommissioned on 1 December 1991 becoming a museum ship. Displacement 8,045 (surfaced)-8,940 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 128 x 10,6 x 10 metres or 420 x 35 x 33 feet. Speed more as 20 knots. Her crew numbered 135 men included 15 officers. The armament consisted of 4-53,3cm torpedo tubes and 16M20 MSBS missiles.
