Japanese battleship Mutsu (1920) in 1923 (1943)


Nagato-class, Launched in 1920, completed in 1921, displacement 33.800 tons, horsepower 46.000 hp, coal-oil fired turbine geared machinery and an armament of 8-16” guns, 20-5.5” guns, 4-12pd anti aircraft guns and 8 torpedo tubes of which 4 were submerged.(1)

1. Laid down at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal on 1 June 1918, launched on 31 May 1920, commissioned on 24 October 1921 and finally sunk in the Hashirakima fleet anchorage caused by an internal explosion on 8 June 1943. Dimensions 215,8 x 29,02 x 9,08 metres or 708.0 x 95.3 x 29.9 and a standard displacement of 32.720 metric tons/32.200 long tons.
