Japanese battleships Kawachi and Settsu laid down according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1909-1910 no. 3

An item reported that at Japan in December 1908 at Yokosuka the battleship ‘A’ (1) and on 18 January 1909 at Kure the ‘B’ (2), were laid down. Japanese magazines reported a displacement of 20.000 ton and as dimensions 146,4 x 25,9 x 8,5 metres. The 25.500 hp machinery was to allow a speed 20 miles. The armament was to consist of 6x2-30,5cm guns 2 in the centre line forward, 2 aft and 2 amidships port and starboard, 10-15cm guns and 12-12cm guns. In this gun arrangement it was possible to fire with 8-30,5cm forward or afterward and with 10 guns in the broadside.

1. The Kawachi- class consisting of the Kawachi and Settsu, preceded by the Satsuma-class and succeeded by the Fuso-class. Building ordered on 22 June 1907, laid down at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal on 1 April 1909 (!), launched on 15 October 1910, commissioned on 31 March 1912 and sunk when a magazine exploded on 12 July 1918.
2. The Kawachi- class consisting of the Kawachi and Settsu, preceded by the Satsuma-class and succeeded by the Fuso-class. Building ordered on 22 June 1907, laid down at the Kure Naval Arsenal on 18 January 1909, launched on 30 March 1911, completed on 1 July 1912, converted into a target ship in 1924 and broken up between 1946-1947.
