New American battleship [Delaware-class] designed according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1906-1907 no. 10


An item reported that the American Bureau of Construction and Repair chose out of 4 designs for a new battleship one of which the approval of the Congress was asked. The displacement was to be 21.500 tons. Coal bunker capacity 1.016 (standard)-2.340 (maximum) tons. A complete armour belt with a height of 2,4 metres and a thickness of 27,8cm. The armament was to consist of 10-30,5cm guns, 14-12,7cm. 4-4,7cm guns for salutes, 3-7,6cm guns for landings, 2-7,5mm machineguns and 2 submerged launching devices. The broadside was 25% larger as every existing ship at that moment. (1)

1. Probably the Delaware-class consisting of the Delaware ((BB-28) and the North Dakota (BB-29), preceded by the South Carolina-class and succeeded by the Florida-class, with a displacement of 20.380 (standard)-22.400 (mean war service) tons and an armament of 10-12” guns, 15-5" guns and 2-21” torpedo tubes.
