Spanish battleship Espana shipwrecked according to the Dutch newspaper De Tijd dated 30 August 1923


An item reported that tidings received from San Sebastian stated that the disaster with the Spanish battleship Espana (1) could not be explained with the sea was complete calm and at the location no invisible cliffs were. The Espana was presumably lost and if the weather allowed it were the guns removed.

1. Laid down on 6 December 1909 at the shipyard of the Sociedad Española de Construcció Naval in El Ferrol, Spain, launched on 5 February three years later, completed on 23 October 1913 was she lost when running aground on 26 August 1923.
