British Royal Navy wanted to built new type battleships according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 13 December 1920

An item dated London, England 7th reported that according to rumours the British Admiralty proposed to built within determined time the first new type of battleships in which the lessons of the war were incorporated. The Algemeen Handelsblad dated 9th confirmed this news item adding that the first battleship of the new war-proved design was to be built at Portsmouth, England within record-time.

Note
1. The design of the N3-class battleships was approved in 1921 but never realized as a result of the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922. Their design was altered unter the restrictions of the same treaty and built at the Nelson and Rodney.
