German battleship Wurtemberg modernized according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1899-1900 no. 8

An item referred to the magazine le Yacht reporting that the German 7.400 ton battleship Wurtemberg was modernized just like her 3 sister ships. The boilers were replaced by Dürr water tube boilers and the 4 funnels by one amidships. The armament was increased with 2-8,8cm guns and everywhere was the wood replaced by steel or iron. Costs around 1.625.000 Dutch guilders.(1)

1. Armoured frigate of the Sachsen-class with as sister ships Sachsen, Bayern and Baden. Building ordered under contract name ‘D’. Launched at AG Vulcan, Stettin, Germany with yard number 78, on 9 November 1878, commissioned on 9 May 1881, stricken on 20 October 1920 and broken up at Wilhelmshaven in 1921.
