American destroyer USS Walke launched at Quincy, Massachusetts according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1910-1911 no. 11

An item reported the launching of the American destroyer USS Walke (1) on 3 November at Fore River Shipbuilding Company, Quincy, Massachusetts, USA. She was a sister ship of the Sterret and Perkins. Fitted out with Curtiss turbines. Displacement 742 tons. Armament consisted of 5-7,6cm quick firing guns, 2 machineguns and 3 torpedo guns. The new to to be built destroyers which the Congress had yet to approve were larger with a planned displacement of 1.000 ton and a speed of 30 miles, also suitable for reconnaissance tasks.
