Dutch paddle steam ferry Spoorboot 2 1891-1912/1913
Active on the shipping line Middelburg-Zierikzee passing the Oosterschelde and connecting the railway station at Middelburg and the week market at Zierikzee. Ordered by the Zeeuwsche Stoomboot Maatschappij Middelburg-Zierikzee in April 1891, laid down at the Kon. Mij. De Schelde at Vlissingen, Netherlands with yard number 77 on 7 August 1891, in thrushes on 9 September 1891, plating fitted on 17 October 1891, launched on 25 November 1891, trials while berthed on 23 and 27 February 1892, official trial on 1 March 1892, delivered on 2 March 1892, decommissioned in March 1912 and sold in 1913 towards Belgium where she was renamed Avanti. Shipbuilder engineer J. Janszen jr.
Displacement 104 (launching)-232 tons, deadweight 129 tons and as dimensions 125.0’ (between perpendiculars)-131.0’ (over all) x 20.0’x 2.5’(fore launching)/4’3.5” (aft launching)-5.9’ x 9.6’ (hold). Original hand controlled steering engine since 1902 steam steering engine. One deck. One boiler and one 2 cylinder compound steam engine (no. 120) delivering 275 ihp (design) allowing a speed of 10,35 miles loaded with 14 ton coal, 6 ton drinking water and 1,4 ton ballast.
