Russian project 204 (Poti-class) anti submarine corvettes 1960-2005


The Project 204-class (called by the NATO Poti-class) consisted of totally 64 ships which served in the Soviet, Bulgarian and Romanian navies, preceded by the Kronstadt-class and succeeded by the Paul-class. In the Bulgarian navy served the Latasha (41)-, Bditelni (42), Naporisti (43), Khrabi (44), Strogi (45) and Bezstrashni (46) between 1960s and 2005 and in the Romanian navy 3 ships between 1970 and 1992. The ships were built by at Zelenodolsk Shipyard 31), Kerch Shipyard (21) and Khabarvosk CVD (21).

General technical specifications of this calls. A displacement of 508 (standard)-589 (full load) tons and as dimensions 59,4 x 7,9 x 2,0 metres or 195’ x 25’11” x 6’7”. Fitted out with gas turbines and with a maximum speed of 39 knots. The range varied between 4.500 and 520 nautical miles with a corresponding speed of respectively 10 and 37 knots. Their crew numbered 90 men. The armament consisted of 1x2-5,7cm/2.2” guns, 2-RBU-6000 anti submarine rocket launchers (in the Romanian units and some of the eldest Russian units RBU-2500 type) and 4-40,6cm/16” anti submarine torpedo tubes or 2-53,cm/21” torpedo tubes.
