US Navy searching for most suitable gun arrangement for the new to be built battleships according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1910-1911 no. 11
An item reported that that one of the gun arrangements for the recently approved building of battleships of the US navy was 4x2-35,6cm/14”guns, 24-12,7cm/5” guns and 12-7,6cm/3” guns. The gun turrets were arranged as nos. 1,2, 7 and 8 on the centerline, nos. 3-6 at port and starboard, no. 2 super firing over no. 1 and no. 7 over no. 8, nos. 3-6 to be arranged in such a manner that no. 3 was super firing over no. 5 aft wards and no. 3 super firing over no. 4 fore wards. Furthermore no. 6 super firing over no. 5 to portside and no. 3 super firing over no. 4 starboard side. This gun arrangement was however (yet) not accepted. According to the magazine Moniteur de la Flotte consisted the main armament of 12-35,6cm guns.
