French battleship Jena heavily damaged due to explosion according to the Dutch newspaper Soerabaijasch handelsblad dated 14 March 1907

An item reported that the explosion on board of the French battleship Jena was caused by spontaneous combustion of the gunpowder charge of a torpedo.(1)

Building ordered on 3 April 1897, laid down at Brest Arsenal, France on 15 January 1898, launched on 1 September 1898, completed in 14 April 1902, magazine exploded on 12 March 1907, decommissioned on 3 July 1907, sunk when used a target ship on 2 December 1909 and sold to be broken up in 1921.
