German heavy cruiser Prins Eugen launched according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1938 no. 6

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau dated 1 September 1938 reporting that on 22 August the German 10.000 ton cruiser Prinz Eugen was launched and baptised by the spouse of admiral Von Horty.(2) The main armament consisted of 4x2-20,3cm/8” guns.(1)

1. Laid down at the Germaniawerft, Kiel, Germany on 23 April 1936, launched on 22 August 1938, commissioned on 1 August 1940, decommissioned on at Copenhagen, Denmark on 7 May 1945, handed over to the British Royal Navy on 8 May 1945, ceded to the USA on 13 December 1945, used for nuclear tests and sunk on 22 December 1946. Actual displacement 16.970 (design)-19.050 (full load) tons but should have been 10.000 tons as allowed under the Anglo-German Naval Agreement. Part of the Admiral Hipper class heavy cruisers consisting of Admiral Hipper, Blücher, Prinz Eugen, Lützow and Seydlitz.

Magdolna Purgly (10 June 1881, Sofronya, Kingdom of Hungary-8 January 1959 Estoril, Portugal), married in 1901 with Miklós Horthy (18 June 1868 Kenderes, Austria-Hungary-9 February 1957 Estoril, Portugal), regent of the Kingdom of Hungary between 1 March 1920-15 October 1944 and who saved between 1896-1918 in the Austro-Hungarian Navy ending his career in the rank of vice admiral.
