German Deutschland-class cruisers potential threat for attacking colonies according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1935 no. 4

An item referred to the N.M.R. dated 16 May 1935 reported that J.B. Gautreau wrote that the German Deutschland-class were the ideal ships for attacking colonial naval bases thanks to the great range and powerful armament.(1)

1. So-called Panzerschiffe, well known as pocket battleships reclassified as heavy cruisers, consisting of the Admiral Graf Spee, Lützow (ex-Deutschland) and Admiral Scheer with a main armament of 3x2-28cm/11” guns and a range of 10.000 nautical miles with a speed of 20 knots.
