The Japanese submarine mother ship Taigei according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1935 no. 4

An item referred to the magazine le Yacht dated 25 May 1935 reporting that the Japanese submarine mother ship Taigei of 10.000 tons was to be fitted out with a number of 12 ton submarines lowered into the water with the support of a crane.(1)

Laid down as the submarine tender Taigei by Yokosuka Naval Arsenal, Japan on 12 April 1933, launched on 16 November 1933, completed on 31 March 1934, decommissioned on 12 December 1941, converted into a light aircraft carrier, renamed Ryuho on 30 November 1942, recommissioned on 30 November 1942, damaged beyond repairs by American air attack near Kure on 19 March 1945, moored as an hulk off Etajima, stricken on 30 November 1945 and broken up in 1946
