An item reported that the department of the Vasiova plant of Sovrommetal near Resita, Romania started on 18 February 19543 with producing torpedo engines of the Russian EGW 60-R-2 type. In the past were here agricultural machinery manufactured. The EGE-60-R-2 was a four cylinder in line engine delivering 80 hp and with a stroke of 11cm, 10,2cm bore, weight of 85kilo’s and as dimensions 87 x 39 x 72 (height) cm.
The personnel numbered 368 labourers divided over 3 shifts who had to produce each month 65 motors. In April stopped at just 31 lacking material especially the parts made of light metals and chrome-nickel steel. Of the management were the names of some known, namely Piotr Dolenkov (production head), Lavrenti Mnazaganov (head planning section), Nikolai Plakhotnikov (head management section), Ion C. Cristescu (head assembly section) and the leading engineers Matei Dolesal, Avram Boaru and Stefan Stoltz.
