Russian-Danube Shipping Company replacing tug crews active on the Danube according to a CIA report dated 18 November 1954

An item reported that the SDGP (Russian-Danube Shipping Company) tugs Taman, Orel and Sevastopol in July 1954 continue towed tankers between the refineries of Moosbierbaum and Lobau. At the moment consisted their crews of Russians and Hungarians of which the first seldom were allowed to go from board, the latter more frequently. The intention was to replace them by Austrian while the tugs just served in Austria. Such a decision would also lower the exploitation costs while the Austrians were only paid for the actual time spent on board of the tugs.
