An item reported that the Albanian merchant shipping consisted of 13 passenger ships, 20 motor caiques and 6 fishing boats. The passenger ships were of Italian origin and with a tonnage of respectively 2-60 tons/600 quintals, 1-30 tons/300 quintals and to varying between 15 tons/150 quintals and 20 tons/200 quintals. The shipyard at Durres started with building a ship of 500 tons/5.000 quintals supervised by the Greek Odesseus Manettas coming from the island Corfu and already worked at the shipyard before the Second World War. Except for passengers transported the ships also cargoes over short distances. The caiques were mostly of Italian origin and ha tonnage of respectively 1-300 tons/3.000 quintals, 1-250 tons/2.500 quintals, 2-150 tons/1.500 quintals, 2-100 tons/1.000 quintals and 13 varying between 10 tons/100 quintals and 70 tons/700 quintals. The fishing boats were mostly of Italian origin and a tonnage varying between 50 tons/500 quintals-100 tons/1.000 quintals.
