Torpedo production at Brasov, Romania according to a CIA report dated 6 July 1954

An item reported that the Romanian Sovrom Works Steagul-vosu of Brasov produced since begin January 1954 torpedoes which were shipped to the navy arsenal at Galati. For instance in February were 184-53,3cm torpedoes manufactured. There was in January experimented with the amount of explosives in the warhead. The warhead of ten torpedoes contained 180 kilo TNT while some other warheads contained 160 kilo novite. Without a warhead was the weight of a 936 kilo. The torpedo could run to a depth of 10 metres and after adjusting the depth controls was the performance satisfying. The torpedoes were fitted out with the Tumig-8 type 8-cylinder motor and an adjustable gyroscope making angle shots and, zigzag of spiral running possible.
