An item reported that the Norwegian whaling factory ship Neilsen Alonso (1) departed on Monday 5 August Norway destined for Hobart, Tasmania and to arrive there in the first week of October. After bunkering coal and victuals she would depart to the Ross sea, Antarctic with her four whale chasers. The latter were already lying at Hobart since early 1929 and were repaired and fitted out.
