Armour plating for Italian battleships partly ordered abroad according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1911 No. 8

Guilio Cesare

Original postcard Chocolate La Estrella

Dante Alighieri

An item reported that the Italian cabinet intended to order a part of the armour plating needed of the new battleships to order abroad. The reason for this intention was that the Terni plant was unable to deliver all needed material on time and further more that the completion date of the ships was not to be postponed. (1)

Note

1. At that moment were the Dante Alighieri (1909-1913) and the Conte di Cavour-class consisting of the Conte di Cavour (1901-1915), Guilio Cesare (1910-1914) and Leonardo da Vinci (1910-1914) under construction.
