Original postcard Chocolate La Estrella
Launched by Sociedad Espanol de Construction Naval (SECN), El Ferrol, Spain in 28 May 1934, completed in May 1936 and stricken in July 2001. As basic design was the Spanish gunboat Canovas del Castillo which was increased and and armament decreased to get a gunboat annex transport. Displacement 1.300 (standard)-1.950 (full load) tons and as dimensions 79,2 (between perpendiculars)-80.4 (over all) x 11,5 x 3,05 metres. Machinery consisted of 2 sets Parsons geared steam turbines and 2 Yarrow boilers supplying via 2 shafts 5.000 hp allowing a maximum speed of 20 knots. With a fuel oil capacity of 140 tons and a speed of 14 knots was the range 3.000 nautical miles. Crew numbered 140 men and able to transport 230 military and 20 horses. Original armament was 3x1-4” cal 45 Mk LA guns, 2x2-2,5 cm 60 cal Hotchkiss guns and 2x2-13.2 cal 76 guns. In 1942 rearmed including 4 DCT.
