New Zealand shore whaling station Omaui or New River 1838

South of the Banks Peninsula, South Islands, New Zealand. Owner/Superintendent Joss and Williams. and Brown and Carter, results 120 tuns of oil. Both fisheries were abandoned after the season while the 500 tons vessel Lynx fully loaded with oil was lost when departing the harbour.
