Dutch cargo screw steamship Batjan 1912-1927, Tjikampek 1927-1932

Originally to be built for F.C. Strick&Co., London, England but the contract was in spring 1912 taken over by the Dutch company. Launched with yard number 819 by Wm. Gray&Co. Ltd., West Hartlepool, United Kingdom for account of the N.V. Stoomvaart Maatschappij Netherlands, Amsterdam, Netherlands on 13 December 1912, delivered in March 1913, between 21 March 1918-8 June 1919 operated by the United States Navy, Naval Overseas Transport Service, New York, USA, rebuilt in 1921, sold to the N.V. Java-China-Japan Lijn, Batavia, Dutch East Indies on 22 February 1922, renamed Tjikampek in October 1927, sold early 1932 to a scrapyard at Osaka, Japan and arrived there on 14 January 1932. Gross tonnage 6.354.00 tons, net tonnage 4.014.00 tons, deadweight 9.738.00 tons and as dimensions 121.92 x 16.31 x 9.03 metres.
