An item dated Schiedam, Netherlands 12th reported the passing in the afternoon of the 11th of the condemned British warship Excellent underway towards Bolnes, Netherlands where she was to be broken up by the firm Bas&Zoon. The Dutch tug Zuidholland of L. Smit&Co. towed her in 50 hours van Plymouth, England towards the Nieuwe Waterweg, Netherlands. From there was she towed by three tugs to her final destination. It was not possible to tow her direct to Rotterdam, Netherlands because of her huge draught. So it was necessary to wait a few days for a more favourable tide. The edition of the 15th reported however that she was grounded at the Kralingse Veer and refloated in the evening of the 14th by the tugs Rotterdam, Schiedam and Delfshaven and now berthed at Bolnes.(1)
