Japanese cargo ship (ex-Hokusei Maru 1929-1930) Kurama Maru 1930-1942


Laid down by Uraga Docks Co. Ltd., Uraga, Japan with yard number 359 on 22 June 1929, launched on 24 June 1930, completed on 10 February 1931, chartered by the Japanese army to be use as troop transport in 1937-1938, requisitioned by the Japanese Army on 2 January 1941 and became transport and sunk by the American submarine USS Trout (SS-502) on 9 February 1942 on the East China Sea. Call sign JGDC. Owned by Kokusai Kisen KK. Fuchu, Japan. Gross tonnage 6.789 tons, under deck 6.187 tons, net tonnage 4.066 tons, deadweight 10.293 tons and as dimensions 438.0 x 58.0 x 33.4 x 8.6 (light)-26.8 (loaded) feet. 688 nhp/4.000 hp diesel machinery allowing a speed of 14 (normal)-16 (maximum) knots. With an oil fuel bunker capacity of 2.550 tons including deep tanks a range of 43.000 nautical miles with a speed of 14 knots.
