An item referred to a letter dated Tombez 21 August 1833 reported that the American whaler George Washington master Gibbs spoke end June 1833 the American whaler Ann Alexander master Shepherd of New Bedford 11 months out 300 barrels oil. She was leaking and bound for the Marquesas Islands.
