American whaling barque Osmanli visited Port Russell, New Zealand according to the New Zealand newspaper New Zealand Herald dated Monday 15 June 1874

An item dated 9 June reported the arrival of the American whaling barque Osmanli master Williams returning from whaling at the port of Russell, New Zealand/Bay of Islands with none catch results since she departed on 25 April.

1. Whalemen's Shipping List dated 8 April 1873 reported as homeport New Bedford, USA, of 292 tons, barque, master Williams, agents Charles . Randall, departure on 4 October 1871. Ship registers of New Bedford vol III 1866-1939. Built at Medford in 1844. Tonnage 292.29 tons and as dimensions; length 106 x 25,2 x 15.1 feet. Owners: Charles S. Randall 4/16, William J. Rotch 2/l6 , Simeon Doane 1/16, William J. Norton l/l6 , John A. Beckerman 2/l6, Swift&Porry, Trustees 2/16, Clara Morgan Rotch 1/16, all of New Bedford; William C. Peine 2/16 and F. Gordon Dexter l/l5 , both of Boston. Master James Williams.
