Japanese cargo-passenger ship Seattle Maru 1908-1944

Call sign JSTD. Gross tonnage 5.774 tons,under deck 5.125 tons, net tonnage 3.541 tons and as dimensions 419.7 x 49.5 x 30.0 x 26 (loaded) feet. Coal fuelled reciprocating steam machinery allowing a speed of 11 (normal)-13.5 (maximum) knots and a range of 11 knots/8.000 nautical miles. Built by Kawasaki Dockyard Co. Ltd., Kobe Japan for Osaka Kyosen K.K., Osaka. Japan. Laid down on 14 May 1908, launched on 3 May 1909, completed on 26 July 1909, chartered by the Imperial Japanese Army as troop transport in 1937 in the war with China, returned to her owners on 13 October 1938, requisitioned by the Imperial Japanese Army as troop transport on 2 February 1941, converted into a hospital ship in 1941, sunk by American submarine USS Thresher on 16 July 1944. At that moment was she used as troop transport.
